There is not much to work with here. What exactly did the designers think? “Once the shopper gets a load of these two twigs, they’re gonna be dying to read it!” This cover is so generic it could have been slapped onto any book: Look Up There! — In the Wind! — The Memory Bush! We strongly suspect this design was lying around until someone decide to get rid of it and stick it on Jojo Moyes’ book.
Speaking of the title, We All Live Here doesn’t do much to inspire curiosity. Is this a sequel to We All Wish We Lived There? Will the next installment be We All Used to Live There? Titles should intrigue, and this one just sits there, stating the obvious.
We want to read books. Really, we do. But you’ve got to give us some reason to pick this up and look inside.
Based on the Cover, We Think This Book Is About…
We have no clue, honestly. But we have to guess, so here goes: Two feuding groups of animals do great harm to each other until they realize they have a common enemy. (It’s either man or the editor of this book.)
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)
Lila Kennedy’s life is unraveling—her marriage is over, her daughters are off track, her house is falling apart, and her career is slipping away. As if that weren’t enough, her aging stepfather has quietly moved in, and her estranged father—who disappeared to Hollywood decades ago—suddenly shows up at her door. Just when she feels like she’s reached her breaking point, Lila is forced to confront the messy, complicated realities of love, forgiveness, and what it truly means to be a family.
JABBIC NOTE: Give us a break!!! NOTHING on that cover suggests any of this.
