This cover is bold, but it gives us absolutely no clue about what the book is actually about. Unless it’s the life story of this bird—falcon? eagle? hawk?—we’re left guessing.
The title, Battle Mountain, sounds intense, but where’s the battle? Where’s the action? All we see is a fierce-looking bird and some scenic wilderness. Maybe the mountain is symbolically battling something? Who knows.
And then there’s the text layout—despite the author’s name being just six characters long, it still manages to completely dominate the cover. Meanwhile, the title is shoved near the bottom, looking like it’s about to be snatched up by the bird. Hidden in tiny, barely noticeable letters is “A Joe Pickett Novel”, as if they’re trying to sneak in the fact that this is part of a series.
Based on the Cover, We Think This Book Is About…
A wildlife expert in the mountains who discovers something dangerous brewing in the wilderness—and must take action before it’s too late.
