Deacon King Kong

Reviewed by James McBride

“Deacon King Kong” by James McBride! First off, can we talk about the colors? It’s like a football team threw a party in a paint store. Bright green, orange, and some yellow—my coach would love this for team spirit.

And that title—Deacon King Kong. What a name! Is this guy a superhero or something? Maybe he’s a church guy who doubles as a wrestler. I’m all about those double lives.

The hat and the scribbled style give it a cool, mysterious vibe. Like, what’s this deacon up to? Solving crimes? Leading a congregation? Both?

JABBIC Rating: ★★★★☆

Summary: “Deacon King Kong” by James McBride sports a lively, eye-catching cover with vibrant colors and a curious title. The playful design hints at a story full of character and intrigue.
