JABBIC – Judge A Book By Its Cover

Fourth Wing

Fourth Wing

This cover is kind of like a puzzle—which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. There are a lot of pieces, but on first glance, they don’t form anything coherent. And after twenty minutes of staring at it… still not coherent.

There are dragons flying around what might be a zodiac chart? A mandala? A mystical dinner plate? Clouds swirl. Stars sparkle. There’s a dark dragon diving into the center black circle. It all screams “fantasy,” but in a way that feels more symbolic than story-driven.

Above the title is a bold proclamation: Fly… or Die. Which is intriguing, though we’re not entirely sure who’s flying or dying. There’s also a review quote calling this “brutally addictive,” which might scare off anyone not looking to be consumed by a dragon drama.

Ultimately, it’s a striking and mysterious design, but for us, just a little too enigmatic to pull us in. We’d admire it on a table, then cautiously back away.

Based on the Cover, We Think This Book Is About…
A fantasy land with good dragons and bad dragons. (And good people and bad people.) If you can’t fly a dragon, it eats you. One reluctant girl runs away from the dragon academy—and chaos ensues.

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
