The Never Game (A Colter Shaw Novel)

Reviewed by Jeffery Deavers

Oy vey, “The Never Game” by Jeffery Deaver has a cover that’s as intense as my mother’s brisket on Passover! Those segmented sunset strips—what a mishmash of roads. It’s like a visual bagel with too many schmears! I see the title and think, “Never say never.” Isn’t that right, folks? Life’s too unpredictable for absolutes, even in the desert.

The colors are as dramatic as my Aunt Ruth when she’s missing her glasses—bright, bold, and a little bit dizzying. It screams suspense and action, kind of like a high-stakes game of dreidel during Hanukkah. I’m just hoping this game has a few more twists and turns than our synagogue’s annual bake sale.

Rating: ★★★★★

Summary: A visually striking, adrenaline-pumping cover that reminds us to never say never, even if it’s a game.
