“The Covenant of Water” by Abraham Verghese, cover looks like it was pulled straight from an art student’s watercolor portfolio. The vibrant mix of colors is captivating, I’ll give it that. The palm trees give it a tropical feel, like you’re about to read a story set in paradise, which is probably not the case, given the title. And of course, there’s Oprah’s Book Club seal – because if Oprah likes it, it must be good, right? The title font is classic, perhaps a bit too classic, making it blend into the background. At least Abraham Verghese’s name stands out – he’s the real star here.

Rating: ★★★☆☆ Summary: An artistically vibrant cover that could use a bit more distinction for the title amidst the bold colors.
