Cows, Pigs, Wars, and Witches

Reviewed by Marvin Harris

“Cows, Pigs, Wars, and Witches” – now that’s a title that promises a wild ride! The cover’s bright, clashing colors feel like an all-out brawl between a rodeo and a carnival, which I guess fits the eclectic mix of topics. The red cow standing triumphantly on a pedestal has to be my favorite part – it’s like the cow just won first place at a very strange county fair. The playful yet intellectual vibe gives off the impression that Marvin Harris is about to take us on an adventure through the quirks of human culture with a touch of humor. It’s like the book is daring you to judge it by its cover and then proving you wrong in the most entertaining way possible.

Rating: ★★★★☆ Summary: A colorful, quirky cover that hints at a fun, insightful exploration of human culture, starring a triumphant red cow.
