Must Love Flowers

Reviewed by Debbie Macomber

‘Must Love Flowers’ by Debbie Macomber. Oh, great, just what I needed – another feel-good, heartwarming novel. The cover screams “whimsical,” with this woman holding an absurdly large bouquet of pink flowers in front of her face. Is she hiding from something, or is this some metaphor for burying your problems in petals? And the background? It’s a pastel pink wall – like we need more of that in our lives.

There’s a quote from Kristin Hannah about hope and family, friendship, and love lifting us up. Yeah, sure, because nothing says “uplifting” like hiding behind a bunch of flowers. And Debbie Macomber’s name is plastered all over the cover in giant letters, as if to remind us, “Hey, I’m a bestselling author!”

If you’re into stories that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, this cover is practically begging you to pick it up. But for the rest of us, it’s just another overly sweet, overly sentimental book that promises more clichés than substance.

Rating: ★★☆☆☆ Summary: “Must Love Flowers” promises a whimsical, heartwarming story with its pastel cover and floral imagery. Ideal for fans of feel-good novels, but probably too sweet and sentimental for others.
