An American Fight Against Fascism’ by Rachel Maddow. ‘Prequel’? Really? We’re getting prequels in nonfiction now? It’s like Hollywood has invaded the bookstore. And the subtitle – ‘An American Fight Against Fascism’ – well, that’s subtle.

And look at the artwork. We’ve got these two eagles having a stare-down over a handshake. What is this, a political cartoon from the 1930s? It’s like they’re saying, ‘Hey, let’s shake on this while we glare menacingly at each other.’ And the color scheme – red and black. Very ‘rise of the Third Reich,’ isn’t it? Nothing says ‘let’s have a rational discussion about democracy’ like a cover that looks like a propaganda poster.

Honestly, it’s a bit much. If you’re into heavy-handed symbolism and dramatic declarations, this cover’s got you covered. But for the rest of?”
