The Exchange by John Grisham – This cover is like looking at a mirror held by a funhouse clown. Is the sky on the ground or is the ground in the sky? Who knows! But that lone figure with a briefcase is clearly up to something important – maybe exchanging secrets, or perhaps he just forgot his lunch. The architectural splendor reflected in the sky makes me feel like I’m on a surreal adventure, but as a doctor, I’m getting slight vertigo just imagining it. If I had a penny for every time a patient tried to explain their symptoms with less clarity than this cover, I could retire early. But hey, Grisham knows how to twist a plot, so this upside-down world is bound to make sense – eventually.
