The Second Mrs. Astor: A Heartbreaking Historical Novel of the Titanic

Reviewed by Shana Abe

Oh, look at this! “The Second Mrs. Astor” by Shana Abé. We got ourselves a classy dame in white gloves and pearls, probably sipping on some fancy tea. Meanwhile, I’m over here in my welding mask, dreaming of what it’d be like to have time to wear gloves that don’t get covered in oil and grease.

The cover’s all about elegance, with this mysterious lady probably plotting something high society. And is that the Titanic at the bottom? Must be one heck of a story about luxury, love, and disaster. My guess? She’s either saving lives or sipping champagne while the ship goes down.

JABBIC Rating: ★★★☆☆

Summary: “The Second Mrs. Astor” by Shana Abé looks like a gripping tale of luxury and tragedy, wrapped in high society’s finest gloves and pearls. Expect a mix of romance and disaster with a touch of upper-class envy.
