The Waters by Bonnie Jo Campbell – Okay, this cover has got me a bit worried. All these lush plants and water lilies make it look serene and inviting, but as someone who can’t swim, I’m seeing a lot of potential hazards. It’s like the calm before the storm, or in my case, the calm before the splash. I mean, there’s a lot of green and beauty here, but where’s the lifeguard? And what’s lurking beneath the surface? I bet there’s a killer plot under there, but I’ll need some floaties to navigate it. Maybe I should just read this one on dry land with a cold drink and some SPF 50.

Rating: ★★★★☆

Summary

A deceptively beautiful cover that screams tranquility but also hints at the hidden depths of the story. Great for those who enjoy the beauty of nature, as long as they don’t have a fear of water.
