We Were the Lucky Ones

“What’s the deal with this book cover? You’ve got two people, sitting on a bench, not even facing the camera! What are they looking at? And why are we not invited to see it? You see a couple on a bench in a book cover, you think, ‘Hey, maybe they’re witnessing something amazing!’ But no, we just get to stare at their backs. Very exclusive, this book cover.

And then there’s this fog all around—what is this, a mystery novel or just a really bad weather day they decided to photograph? You see fog on a book cover, you gotta wonder if they’re hiding something. Maybe the rest of the title? Who knows!

Also, the title, ‘We Were the Lucky Ones.’ Lucky to be in the fog? Lucky to have a bench? And they throw in a bright yellow font – because nothing says serious historical drama like neon yellow, right? It’s like, ‘Hey, look here, but not too closely at the fog!’

And let’s not forget the Hulu sticker. Because why read the book when you can just watch the series, right? It’s like saying, ‘We know you’re not gonna read this, so we made a show. You’re welcome.'”
