While Justice Sleeps

Reviewed by Stacey Abrams

“While Justice Sleeps” by Stacey Abrams has a cover that feels like a scene straight out of a spy thriller. There’s a shadowy figure walking in a place that screams “important government building,” with the Washington Monument dramatically lit in the background. The American flag drapes over the top like the world’s most patriotic canopy. The subtitle teases an explosive secret, a dangerous world, and a lone hero, which is enough to make any reader’s pulse quicken. As a reverend, I can tell you that while justice might be snoozing, God is definitely wide awake and keeping an eye on things. This cover practically begs for divine intervention to give justice a good, holy nudge and say, “Wake up, it’s showtime!”
